The Cursed God: Why Trying to Be a Good Person Is Slowly Killing You

Galatians 3:10-14 | Pastor David Hancock | July 5, 2026 | 47 min

"The law does not grade on a curve. Grace does not grade at all."

Where We Find Ourselves

We live by an invisible ledger, sure that if the good outweighs the bad, God will bless us. But the law does not grade on a curve. It demands perfect keeping. One failure chains us to the cursed mountain.

"Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, 'Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree.'" (Galatians 3:13, ESV)

What Christ Has Done

Christ left the mountain of blessing to come to ours. He wore the crown of thorns, was hung on the tree, and became the curse for us. Now, by faith, He gives us a righteous standing before God and the promised Spirit who brings the blessed life on the cursed side.

Our Vision for The Grove

The Grove to become a people living the blessed life on the cursed side. Sons and daughters standing with joy on the mountain of sorrow, peace on the mountain of fear, and offering the fruit of heaven to a world still tangled in thorns.
